SURFACE TENSION
A documentary exploring the fragile balance between livelihood and sustainability beneath Cornwall’s waves.
Through the eyes of a commercial fisherman and a spear fisherman, SURFACE TENSION dives into the ecological and personal realities of Cornwall’s declining fish stocks and fragile future of its marine ecosystems.
Set along the raw yet beautiful Cornish coastline, SURFACE TENSION examines the ocean as both a recourse and a way of life. The film follows two men - one who lives off of its resources and another who experiences its intense beauty with a more selective approach towards its food recourses. Their contrasting yet connected experiences reveal the complexities of ocean stewardship, as local marine ecosystems face increasing pressure from overfishing from foreign vessels and lack of protection.
Through intimate interviews and immersive cinematography, the film captures the culture and the marine life that is under threat.
